Facilitator Certification

EPSI believes that professional development without follow-up and support is "educational malpractice." Certified district trainers will build capacity for future professional development. Facilitator Certification for school districts is a cost-effective way to support and sustain implementation of LINKS™ Metacognitive Learning Strategies within the school district.

EPSI provides a three-day intense train-the-trainer program leading to licensing of certified facilitators trained to use EPSI PowerPoint® presentations and training tools to support and sustain district implementation. District staff will learn how to deliver high-impact workshops for new staff and support and mentor teachers in the district through implementation.

Upon successful completion of this training the school system will be able to purchase LINKS™ Metacognitive Strategies Resource Handbooks and supporting materials. Certified facilitators are able to provide the following:

  • Building-level technical assistance
  • Classroom demonstrations
  • Support for principal’s efforts at staff meetings
  • Support for the building-level principal implementing open-response question
  • Support for building-level principal implementing a strategy-of-the-month
  • Facilitate all four (4) LINKS™ workshop sessions as follows:
    • Session 1 - Metacognitive Writing Strategies
    • Session 2 - Metacognitive Reading & Study Strategies
    • Session 3 - Assessment
    • Session 4 - Differentiated Instruction

Participants receive:

  • Facilitator’s manual
  • All (4) LINKS™ workshop presentations on CD-ROM (Microsoft PowerPoint®)
  • Strategies for introducing LINKS™ in group settings at building-level meetings
  • Strategy-of-the-Month agendas
  • Agendas and Handouts

Certificate for (18) Professional Development Points ????

Overview of the Video Review Process?????

It is the responsibility of the district or candidate to design, create, and submit a 45-minute (minimum) videotape conducting a LINKS™ workshop for teachers. If the district or candidate requires direct observation as a means of review for certification an additional cost will be applied.

If a candidate does not submit materials for review or ask to be directly observed within the time frame indicated on the Workshop Exit Agreement, they will not be certified but will still have the choice of performing all functions as outlined in “What you can do”??????

EPSI will sell materials to all districts regardless of who is performing the workshops. EPSI will guarantee materials for workshops conducted by certified LINKS™ trainers only.

EPSI will only sanction workshops conducted by “Certified LINKS™ Trainers.”

Participants will be expected to follow a training rubric in order to produce a video of a workshop presentation. This video will be reviewed and critiqued by EPSI staff. The participant will then receive a report with recommendations for improving their workshop presentation. Following the review of the video presentation, the district facilitator will be certified for two years to present LINKS™ Metacognitive Strategies workshops in their district.
